Flag design for a project commissioned by NBStudio, Better Bankside and Borough Market to celebrate London's Bankside area. To reflect the 'Independent Spirit of Bankside' and with a nod to Borough Market, I used the idea of throwing food as a form of protest and designed a chucked tomato as a dynamic symbol of rebelliousness. The green calyx of the tomato is a star, evocative of revolutionary symbolism and flag graphics. The final design needed to be legible from both sides and also incorporate Bankside's pink colour which I included along one edge to imply the location of the tomato-throwing culprit. Forty five flags by London designers were displayed in Borough Market during the London Design Festival and then auctioned in aid of local community charities.
